Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Prepare for movement of pigs

  1. Identify and follow biosecurity procedures that apply to entering and working on a pork production site
  2. Confirm pigs to be moved, their current location, their destination and timing of the move
  3. Confirm enterprise animal welfare and biosecurity requirements for pig movement
  4. Identify health and safety hazards, assess risks and control and/or report risks prior to commencing tasks
  5. Select, prepare and fit appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required for the tasks and conditions
  6. Check gates and/or pathways/routes for clear access, and readiness of destination to receive pigs
  7. Advise other workers of upcoming pig movement as required
